How does buying a gun online work in Minnesota?
You pay for the firearm here and name a licensed FFL dealer in Minnesota at checkout. We ship the gun to that dealer. You collect it there after completing ATF Form 4473 and passing the background check.
Do I need a permit to buy?
For a handgun or a semiautomatic military-style assault weapon (most AR and AK pattern rifles), your dealer needs to see a Minnesota permit to purchase or a valid permit to carry (Minn. Stat. 624.7131). Without one the transfer goes through a report to local law enforcement and a wait. Bolt actions, lever actions, pumps and other ordinary rifles and shotguns need no state permit. Where do I get a permit to purchase?
At the police department of the city where you live, or the county sheriff if your town has none. It is free, the agency has up to 30 days to act, and the permit is valid for one year. Apply before you order and pickup takes a single visit.
Who runs the background check?
Your dealer, through the FBI NICS system. Most checks come back within minutes. If a check is delayed, the dealer holds the firearm until it is resolved.
What do I bring to the dealer?
A Minnesota driver's license or state ID with your current address, your permit to purchase or permit to carry if the gun needs one, your order number, and the dealer's transfer fee.
What does the FFL dealer charge?
Each dealer sets their own transfer fee, commonly $20 to $60. Call before you order to confirm they accept shipped transfers and to ask the fee.
Can you ship a gun to my house or cabin?
No. Federal law requires firearms to go to a licensed dealer. Ammunition, magazines and accessories can ship to your home address.
Do you sell binary triggers?
No. We do not list binary triggers, forced-reset triggers or any other part designed to increase rate of fire. Minnesota addresses trigger activators in Minn. Stat. 609.67.
Are there magazine limits in Minnesota?
No. As of our last review Minnesota has no magazine-capacity limit, so standard magazines ship normally to Minnesota addresses.
How old do I have to be?
21 or older for handguns and handgun ammunition, 18 or older for rifles, shotguns and their ammunition. Those are the federal rules for licensed dealers.
How much is shipping, and how long does it take?
A flat $29.99 per order, free over $999. Most orders ship within 1–3 business days of payment and, for firearms, once we have the dealer's license on file. Ammunition travels by ground only.
Why do some items take longer?
Some items ship from partner distributors rather than our main warehouse. Those usually ship within 1–3 weeks, and we email you if yours will take longer. If we cannot ship an item within 30 days, you get a full refund.
What payment do you accept?
Credit and debit cards through our secure card checkout.
Are prices and stock accurate?
Price and availability are checked again when you place the order. If anything changed, you see it before you pay.
Do you sell suppressors or short-barreled rifles?
No. NFA items are not listed.
Can I return a gun?
Before it is transferred to you, yes. Contact us and tell your dealer not to complete the transfer. After transfer, firearms cannot be returned for a refund, but the manufacturer's warranty applies. See the returns policy.
