Defensive and tactical firearms in Minnesota

This category gathers the defensive end of the catalog: carbines, duty-size pistols and pump or semi-auto shotguns set up for the home rather than the duck blind. Buyers are mostly homeowners around Minneapolis–St. Paul, Rochester and Duluth, plus club shooters who run carbine and pistol matches through the summer. State law treats much of it alike. Handguns and semiautomatic military-style rifles can only be transferred by a dealer to someone holding a permit to purchase or transfer (Minn. Stat. 624.7131) or a permit to carry, so apply with your police department or sheriff first. A defensive pump shotgun needs no state permit.
